Stencyl This is a simple Game engine with block style programming that can lead you into the world of Game Creation across all manner of different aspects. The home page has a great couple of 'Crash Courses' for you to explore and a wealth of information. You can use PISKEL and BEEPBOX to create characters, assets and sounds within Stencyl. www.stencyl.com Piskel This is a web based programme so all you need is a Gmail account. You can create pixel styles designs across a range of sizes and styles with this simple app. It has some simple animation aspects to it to allow you to explore some stop frame animation. www.piskelapp.com Beepbox Another web based system that will allow you to create your very own chip tunes. You can start by randomly clicking or if you are the next music maestro then you can take a more developed approach. To save you work just copy and paste the URL in the browser and save it somewhere (it changes every time you change something). You can explore the finished creations out as WAV files. www.beepbox.co Blender Take you first steps into the world of 3D design. You can start simple and develop your skills using an industry standard piece of software for free. There are a wealth of tutorials online for Blender and it is one of those applications where you will always be learning something new! www.blender.org Unity This is the main game engine we use in our Upper 6th year. An easily accessible game engine that has excellent capacity to help you develop your understanding in animation, level design and coding. You will always find yourself tweaking and changing your work in this expansive game engine software. We use C# as our main coding language so if you delve into the underbelly of the scripting world then go for this language to start. www.unity.com
